Description: Optometrists are doctors who focus on eyes and vision. Their tasks range from offering preventive care through routine checkups to providing referrals to other specialists for treatment of health conditions, such as autoimmune diseases, that may lead to serious eye problems.

Optometrist Responsibilities:

> Perform thorough routine eye inspections.
> Identify the patient’s visual alertness, field of vision, and hand-eye coordination.
> Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness and color blindness.
> Prescribe corrective lenses and medications.
> Maintain accurate medical files for all patients.
> Promote eye health by teaching patients about proper eye care techniques.
> Identify and assess eye defects and diseases such as diabetes and liver failure.
> Record all diagnosis and treatment plans including transfers and therapeutic prescriptions.

Requirements: Work experience as an Optometrist
In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects
Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer
The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly
Attention to detail
Degree in Optometry
