Description: assesses and treats speech disorders and other communication issues:
Assess
SLPs evaluate a patients speech, language, and other communication skills. They also consider cognitive and oral/feeding/swallowing skills.
Develop treatment plans
SLPs create personalized treatment plans to address a patients specific needs and preferences.
Provide therapy
SLPs provide therapy to help patients improve their speech, language, and communication skills.
Educate
SLPs educate patients and their families about communication disorders and how to improve communication.
Collaborate
SLPs work with other professionals to improve communication abilities.
SLPs are university-educated allied health professionals who work with people of all ages. They can help with a variety of issues, including: Early language skills, Voice use, Language comprehension, Reading and spelling, and Using technology or other ways to communicate.

Requirements: Masters degree in speech therapy or speech-language pathology.
Relevant license and certification.
Experience with certain disorders and age groups may be required.
Sound understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments.
Familiarity with database management software.
Excellent relationship-building skills.
Resourcefulness and strong problem-solving skills.
