- A Histopathologist, or pathological anatomy specialist, studies tissues and organs to diagnose and investigate diseases, including cancer, inflammatory diseases, and other conditions. They examine tissue samples (often biopsies) under a microscope, often using stains and immunological techniques, to identify abnormalities. Histopathologists play a vital role in patient care, providing accurate diagnoses that inform treatment decisions.
- Requirements
- A Ph.D. in medicine.
A minimum of 4 years of specialist training in histopathology.
Completion of the United States Medical Licensing exam.
Extensive knowledge of tissue sampling and analysis techniques.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional clinical supervision skills to lead the biomedical team.
