Creating patient care plans
Dermatologists create and implement patient care plans, and monitor patient progress.
Providing advice
Dermatologists provide expert advice on skincare and prevention methods. They also educate patients on managing their condition.
Performing procedures
Dermatologists perform skin biopsies, noninvasive surgical procedures, and minor surgical procedures. They also offer cosmetic dermatology services, such as treating scars and wrinkles.
Prescribing medications
Dermatologists prescribe medications to treat skin conditions.
Conducting research
Dermatologists conduct or order diagnostic tests, and may also conduct clinical or basic research

Requirements: Medical Degree with specialization in Dermatology.
Completion of all three parts of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam.
Completion of a 3-year dermatology residency.
Attainment of a medical license.
Proficiency with dermatological tools such as comedone extractors, lancet extractors, and cryogens.
