- Patient interactions: Meet with patients, assess their needs, and establish their audiometric profile
Hearing aid procedures: Take ear impressions, choose hearing aids, arrange settings, and help patients adapt to their new hearing aid
Repairing hearing aids: Repair hearing aids and maintain the repair laboratory
Administrative management: Answer phones, fill out billing forms, and schedule appointments
Education: Train clients to use hearing aids or other augmentative communication devices
Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of client information and hearing aid sales
Staying current: Read current literature, talk with colleagues, and participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in audiology
Hearing aid technicians require precision and exact results when testing, changing tubing, making minor repairs, and taking ear mold impressions
- Requirements
- Hearing aid technicians is required to have a high school diploma or GED.
Candidates must have completed a two-year associate degree program in audiology or a related field. These programs include courses in anatomy, physiology, acoustics, physiology, electronics and engineering.
