Currently, we are looking for an Infectious Disease Specialist to join our dynamic and talented team.
Position Overview:
As our Infectious Disease Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with infectious diseases. You will work closely with other medical professionals to develop treatment plans, monitor the progress of patients, and provide specialized care to individuals with infectious diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat patients with a variety of infectious diseases
- Conduct thorough medical evaluations and review medical histories
- Order and interpret medical tests, such as blood work, imaging, and cultures
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on the specific needs of patients
- Prescribe medication as necessary and monitor patient responses to treatment
- Communicate and collaborate with other medical professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
- Educate patients and their families about infectious diseases, prevention methods, and treatment plans
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of infectious diseases
- Participate in training and mentoring programs for medical students, residents, and fellows
- Requirements
- This specialty requires a four year degree and as well as four years of medical school and three years of training as an internist. You will need to be licensed to practice as a physician in the state in which you are working, and also stay current with continuing education requirements. Further, the position of clinical infectious disease specialist requires that you also receive at least three years of training specifically in infectious diseases and pass the AMA certification for becoming a specialist.
As many drug resistant infections are becoming more prevalent, the demand for clinical infectious disease specialists is steadily growing. The projected increase in jobs in this area is estimated at about 12% over the next ten years. For such a specific area of public health, that is considered an above average increase, and with the educational requirements, there is concern that not enough applicants will be available in the coming years.
