- An ENT assistant (PA) works under surgeons or doctors to practice medicine in the ear, nose, and throat specialty. Your responsibilities as an otolaryngology PA include reviewing patient’s medical histories, making diagnoses, giving treatments, and performing patient assessments. You manage a patient’s care plan, order tests, and counsel and educate patients. Your other duties as an otorhinolaryngology PA include prescribing medications, conducting physical examinations, recording a patient’s progress, researching treatments to ensure the best patient care, and participating in or conducting outreach programs to promote wellness or educate about disease management.
- Requirements
- The minimum qualifications for an ENT assistant include a master’s degree in a physician assistant program. After graduation, you have to obtain your physician assistant license. All US states require licensure for you to practice. The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is the organization that administers the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination.
