Description: Promote appropriate behaviour and protect the welfare of students, faculty and staff
Support the College SMT with the HSE Policy and Guidance and maintain OHSAS 18001 compliance.
Conduct daily safety tours within the college and ensure non-conformities are communicated.
Provide accident or incident data to Head of Health & Safety in a timely manner.
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and help prevent re-occurrence.
Conduct in-house and commercial training i.e. Fire Safety, Manual Handling, and First Aid training.
Conduct Safety meeting weekly/Quarterly as appropriate.
Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency. Maintains records of such drills, providing recommendations for emergency response improvements;
Complete Risk Assessments and assist managers in completing them i.e. pregnancy and DSE Risk Assessments.
Supervises the regular inspection of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment.
Ensure all new starters receive a site induction and complete ILEI’s online Health & Safety training modules.
Drive the implementation of programs and initiatives to foster a strong HSE culture.
Deliver and continuously improve HSE management systems and compliance programs.
Organize and Chair the HSE Committee Meetings.
Ensure the information on the safety notice board is relevant and up to date

Requirements: Requirements and skills
Proven experience as safety officer
Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
Outstanding organizational skills
Diligent with great attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
